to the We Care Food Pantry web site


The mission of the We Care Food Pantry is to provide needy families a hand up, not a hand out.  Our income based program helps ensure that your neighbors in need have enough nutritious food to put on the table.
 
We are swamped with increasing requests for emergency food assistance, but miraculously, with the help of caring people like you, we have been keeping up with the demand, but barely.
 
The prescription for success is nothing fancy. Our all-volunteer work force donates many, many hours, using our brains as much as our hearts, to uncover new and promising food sources and we get that food to people who are hungry as quickly as possible.

We have dedicated volunteers whose stamina is constantly being tested.  We believe there are few things more precious than being a part of an action that empowers a struggling neighbor.  Such action could come in the form of a food box, a job tip, a tank of fuel, or just a sympathetic ear.

-   1 Billion people worldwide face chronic hunger.

 

- 31 million Americans, 13 million of them children, are hungry.

 

-   1 in 6 Citrus County residents (22,000 out of a total population of 134,000) live in poverty.
